Photos are read and cleaned on your device. They are never uploaded — open the Privacy check at the bottom to watch.

How duplicates are found

  • Exact duplicates have the same SHA-256 fingerprint — byte-for-byte identical files.
  • Similar photos are found with a perceptual “difference hash”: each image is shrunk to 9 × 8 pixels in greyscale and turned into 64 bits describing where it gets brighter or darker. Images whose bits differ in only a few places look alike, even after resizing or recompression.

The Similarity slider sets how many bits may differ. Start low and raise it if you expect edited copies. Burst shots and near-identical frames will group together at higher settings.

Nothing is deleted. Download the CSV to review, then remove files yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Will it find a cropped copy?

Small crops, yes, at higher similarity settings. Heavy crops or rotations look like different images.

How many photos can it handle?

Thousands on a laptop. Each image is decoded once, so very large libraries take a few minutes.

Does it delete anything?

No. It only lists duplicates.
