What EXIF reveals

Phones and cameras embed metadata in every JPG: the device make and model, lens, exposure settings, the date and time, and — if location is on — GPS coordinates accurate to a few metres. Some apps strip it when you post; email attachments, cloud links and many marketplace or forum uploads often don’t.

Removing metadata without losing quality

This tool deletes the metadata segments (EXIF, XMP, IPTC and comments) from the file and copies the compressed image data byte for byte, so there’s no recompression and no loss of quality. Note that the orientation tag is removed too, so a photo taken sideways may appear rotated in some viewers — rotate it with crop & resize if needed.

To stop location being saved in future photos, turn off location for your camera app (iPhone: Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Camera; Android: camera settings → Location tags).

Frequently asked questions

Does this work with PNG or HEIC?

It reads and strips EXIF in JPG files, the most common format for shared photos. Converting a PNG or HEIC to JPG with the image converter also drops its metadata.

Is the cleaned photo lower quality?

No. Only the metadata is removed; the image data is copied exactly.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. It’s read and cleaned on your device.
